Q & A with Natalie

Is it better to eat before or after working out?

It all depends on the time of day you workout. Always try to have a small healthy snack (banana, almonds, yogurt) at least an hour before your workout.

Why did you choose to become a nutritionist?

I developed an interest for health and fitness at an early age and followed my passion to become a nutritionist with a holistic lifestyle approach for a truly healthy way of living. I want to share my knowledge and experience to help educate others on the importance of Mind-Body wellness. I enjoy helping others see the benefits of “eating clean” from real food that comes from the earth, rather than processed and unnatural food sources that are marketed as“healthy.”

Is it better to eat three meals a day or lots of little meals throughout the day?

I think you should eat breakfast, lunch and dinner and have one snack a day and fresh green juice every day. Be mindful of your portions and stop eating before you get to full.

Is it really that difficult to eat healthy?

It’s actually very easy to eat healthy. Focus on REAL nutrient based food, made with real ingredients you can pronounce and are familiar with, and cut out all of the un-natural artificial sweeteners and processed “food” filled with chemicals.

I am always hungry after I workout and then I eat too much – how can I fill up without filling out?

MEAL PREP!!!. Having your meals ready to go is the best way not to head to a fast food restaurant or start gorging on whatever you see in sight. Prepare healthy meals ahead. Go for clean foods such as healthy fat, protein and complex carbs.

Are there super foods? Can you name some and why we should add them to our diet?

There are many super foods to add to your diet. My top 5:

  • Eggs: Relatively inexpensive and an amazing source of high quality protein and fat.
  • Kale:  An inexpensive cruciferous vegetable that is beneficial to your stomach, liver and immune system. It’s an excellent source of multivitamin and other nutrients.
  • Yogurt-Kefir: Adding yogurt-kefir to your diet is an excellent way to boost your immunity and increase your daily energy. Excellent source of probiotic.
  • RAW Almonds: Almonds in particular are rich in phytochemical, plant components that promote heart and vascular health. They’re a great source of Vitamin E, Magnesium, Protein, Fiber, Potassium, Calcium, Phosphorus, Iron
  • RAW Green Vegetable Juice:  Juicing is a great way to make sure you’re getting sufficient amounts of veggies in your diet. Benefits of RAW Green Vegetable Juice are numerous: promotes weight loss, boosts your immune system, increases your energy and supports brain health.
